He's 40 today!

Well, today is the day my husband turns 40! He had to work last night (and tonight) so he is still sleeping. We'll have his birthday dinner and cake at lunch time and he can open his gifts then. I'm not sure I can wait that long to see what he thinks of what I got him but I guess I have to. I thought I would share the card I made for him though. The layout is from the sketch challenge for this week on SCS. It's sketch challenge 101.

Other than making sure Todd has a happy birthday I'll be getting ready to leave for Las Vegas tomorrow. I have a little bit of laundry to do before I can pack but we'll only be gone for a couple of days so it won't take me to long to pack.

Of course, while we are gone, there will be no posting. Maybe I'll share a couple of pictures when we get back though.

Have a great next couple of days!

Day Three and the final I believe!

Well, today is day three and I have what I think is the final frap bottle. Only I'm not for sure I won't do anything else with it. But, if I do you guys will be the first to know!

Before I show you though I HAVE to show you what my friend Kim made for me! First for some background information. I have seen her make these scarves the last couple of years for other people and thought to myself two things 1. I want HER for my secret Santa and 2. maybe I could commission her to make me one? Anyway, I hadn't said anything to her because she has three kids, a husband, and a daycare and doesn't have time to be making a scarf for me! But, GUESS WHAT???? She made me one...yahoo...she made me one! It is the softest, longest, most beautiful scarf I've ever had! Wanna see me in my beautiful, handmade by Kim, scarf? Okay, you talked me into it! Isn't it great! Oh, my I LOVE it! Thank you soooo much Kim!

Now, on to the frap bottle. Yesterday I just put the paper on the bottle and placed my little tags and voila! The, what I hope is finished, frap bottle. Now, I have to admit that I like it better with the little tags out so I may (depending on everyone's comments) just leave the little tags sticking out instead of in. I put some kisses and peanut butter cups inside and that will be a gift for...??? I don't know yet. It says love on it so that limits my options a bit but we'll see! Here is a picture or two! So, what do you all think of it finished? Please feel free to post a comment or two about it...I would really appreciate it! Also, what do you think of the multiple day project thing? Do you like that or would you prefer to see just things that are all finished?

Today, I have some final prep at church for an adult Sunday School class I will be facilitating. I'm going to meet with the Pastor to make sure I have all my ducks in a row or is it all my scripture in order? Anyway, after that...the all important hair appointment. Gotta make sure my hair is acceptable for Vegas, you know! Finally, Kyler has a choir concert tonight at the university. Another busy day in store but I guess I like it that way since they are almost all like that!

I hope everyone makes it a fantastic FRIDAY!!!

Oh, and one day and a wake up 'til Vegas!!!!

Day Two

It's day two in our frap bottle journey. Last night I decided I would choose colors and work on the layout a bit. I did come up with something I think could be cute but just isn't working for me when I do a mock layout. Here is the paper I choose and what I think could possibly be the worlds smallest pockets. If you can't tell I've decided to go with more male colors. I've used the Treehouse designer paper again as well as Buckaroo Blue, Cranberry Crisp, True Thyme, and Whisper White. I used the new set Tagger's Dozen from the Winter Mini and Crosshatch BG. The ribbon is the stitched Cranberry and Thyme Ribbon. I'm sure you all can figure out in your mind what it is I'm thinking of doing but I may just change my mind so don't count on it yet!

Today is the first day I've had that isn't jammed packed so far this week! Only 2 days and a wake up until Todd and I leave for Vegas! Woohoo! With that knowledge please know that while we are gone I will not be updating my blog (go figure!!). I'll miss you all but need the break!

I'm planning on taking it easy today and doing some extra stamping today so maybe I'll have even more to share tomorrow!

Make it a great Thursday everyone!

Day One

Well, day one in our stamping journey has netted us a decorated lid. I didn't want any of the printing on the top to show so I decided to cover the top. I cut two circles 1-2" and 1- 1 3/4" and decorated them with the "for you" stamp from the Level 1 hostess set Riveting. I then used oh, so sticky tape to put Cranberry Stitched Ribbon along the edge. Holy smokes people! That is one HUGE frap top!

Today, Todd and I are off to work at the church bazaar. It will be a long morning but worth the effort to make it a success.

I hope everyone has a great Wednesday!

A stamping journey

Good morning ladies! I have a unique, and what I hope will be fun, idea for the blog over the next couple of days. I'm going to take this ordinary looking frappaccino bottle...
and turn it into a fun gift idea. Each day that i work on it I'm going to photograph and post the progress on the blog. I don't think it will take me more than a couple of days. Normally I would say just one day of stamping BUT I'm really busy the next couple of days so it'll take me a bit longer. So...I hope you will keep checking in on our cute frap bottle and then use the idea for yourself!

So, I thought I'd share what I made for my stamp club members. They are very easy to make. You just use a badge holder (taking the plastic clip thingie off the bottom), metal edge tag, and stamps of your choice to make a great way to hold your adhesive! It seems that everyone like them and I think they are a very handy stamping tool!

Tomorrow is the Bazaar at church and I have kind of an expanded roll this year so I'm sure I'll post but I'm not sure how extensive (over and above the frap bottle) it will be.

Make this a great Tuesday!

Word Window Envelope

It was quite the busy Sunday yesterday! I was at church by 8:15 setting up my giant cross word puzzle for Sunday School. Then home for a little while where I worked on getting a couple of sets cut out. At 2:00 we went to see the matinee of The Nativity Story. If you are even in the remotest sense interested in seeing it....GO!! It was spectacular. I found that the Biblical references were accurate (for the most part) and what they had to add in for a movies sake...well, it was added in a way that could have happened. They pretty much stayed to tradition at that time and...well, just go see it! I think you'll like it! (I did cry in a couple of spots!) After the movie we decorated our house. Since Todd is home we have more decoration then if I were doing it but it looks really nice and more importantly...the kids like it! at 6:30 I left for the church again and didn't get home until close 'til 8. You know...if you have time my church (1st Presbyterian on 3rd Street) is having their annual bazaar on Wednesday. Crafts and a yummy lunch are available! If you want to know more you can e-mail me or leave a message here and I'll get back to you!

Okay, now onto some VeggieTales for a moment. There is a link on the right to my VeggieTales Moms website. There you can shop for lots of fun, educational gifts for your children. I'm only mentioning it now because I'd like orders to go in by the beginning of next week so that they are back in time for Christmas. Please let me know if you have any questions about that!

And on to stamping! I don't have anything to show you that I personally did. BUT, a couple of days back I said I would share what my friend Dawn sent me in our World Series Swap. This card is 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 and made with...stamps: Happy Everything, Circle of Friends, and I'm not sure of the background (I don't think it is current). Card stock is: Bravo Burgundy, Night of Navy, Mellow Moss, and Whisper White. Accessories: Circle punch for the donut, Wine grosgrain ribbon. Ink: Night of Navy and Bravo Burgundy. Now the really fun part is the envelope! Because of the size of the card when you put it in the envelope it will slide around a bit. So the trick is to take a piece of paper about 1 7/16 x 4 1/2... then take the word window punch and punch the side of the envelope. Now you put adhesive on the strip of paper and place it inside the envelope on the side of the window. You then can stamp on the card stock through the window space. Does that make sense? Because you adhesive'd it down your card won't slide around inside! It's very cool!

So today seems to be another busy day...actually Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are very busy this week then on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday I'll be getting ready for our time in Vegas, baby! Woohoo!

Make today a great Monday!

Try this again!

Morning! I'm going to try posting again although it doesn't seem that everything I need to post is available this morning. Hopefully this problem will not continue for very long!

So...yesterday I was going to show you that you can turn two plain chipboard coasters like this:
Into a mini album like this...

Just follow this link to Beate's tutorial on SCS and you'll be all set to go. Basically you take 2-4x4 chipboard coasters, pick out coordinating card stock, lay your ribbon in place, modpodge the card stock to the chipboard, l add a fanned center section (check the link for the dimensions), add your book pages and you are done! Please it's so easy...go try it!

Okay...for those of you who weren't here for the hostess brunch I want to show you what I made for my secret Santa person. I made her three things...hopefully I can post them all! (okay...so I can't get them all the way I want them so you get to see two of the items! I received a beautiful Christmas centerpiece and a really lovely stamped piece of art for my wall. I'll post them in upcoming days.
One last thing I wanted to post was the scrapbook page we did on Saturday. I think it's cute and when you add your picture on the page it will really finish it will all the colors and excitement of the day! This is pretty self explanatory but I wanted to point out the stamp sets. They are Big Deal Alpha, Hung up on the Holidays, and City of David (the little Christmas). The tag corner punch was used on the merry and then silver brads were added.

Well, that is it for the day! I'm off to get ready for church! Have a relaxing Sunday all!
