sassy wedding and some candy

Morning everyone! We are on the downward slope towards Friday...woohoo!

Today I thought it would be fun to show you some of the wedding items that limeLIGHT Papercraft carries. I bought this cute set called Sassy Wedding Set by Stampendous some time ago to make a card for a co-worker of Todd's that was getting married. Yeah...we decided not to go to the wedding and I slacked on the card. Shame on me. But, I just knew this set would be cute so I pulled it out along with some great Pebbles patterned paper called Wedding Words and made this card. I have to tell you that this is the 5th image that I stamped. The first three weren't spaced correctly but the fourth one...wonderful...until I smudged it with God knows what....grrrr! So, I have to go with this 5th image. Anyway, I added some fun silver rhinestones from KaiserCraft. Gotta have some bling on the card ya know. Whatcha think...kind of a fun card, huh? While you are over checking out the items I've hyperlinked you too make sure you click on "home" so you can see the fun specials Mandy has going on right now!

Oh, wanna know something really fun? Mandy, over at LLPC has given me the okay to give away TWO packages (two winners) of silver rhinestones...yay Mandy! Soooooo...wanna win? Okay, just leave me a comment on THIS post, with a way to get a hold of you (otherwise you can't win) by Friday night at 5 p.m. Tell your friends, tell your family, tell strangers in the street (okay not them) to come on by and comment for their chance to win. Only one comment per person please. And as a gift from me if the first person whose name is chosen would like the above card as well as the rhinestones then it is for you!

Now, go...have a super day and don't forget to comment!

Card deets:
Stamps: Sassy Wedding by Stampendous
Cardstock: Pure Poppy, PTI White, Pebbles Wedding Words, True Black
Ink: Palette Noir
Accessories: Silver KaiserCraft Rhintestones, Pure Poppy Satin Ribbon, Dimensionals, Nesties

with sympathy

Good morning everyone! So, is anyone else having a hard time remembering that it is actually Tuesday...not Monday? I'll get it into my brain eventually!

Each and every month I totally stalk the PaperTrey Ink release party. I love PTI's products...all of them. I have been able to control myself the last couple of month with not purchasing a lot but when I saw this set last month I had to have it. It is a beautiful set called With Sympathy. I know sympathy cards are something no one likes to make or think about but in reality...we have to. I was at PEO last week and we were told that an acquaintance's mom was not doing well and was in the last days of her life here on earth. I really like this woman and I know the feeling of loosing a parent so I came home and prepared a card for her using the With Sympathy set. This card is heavily influenced by Lauren Meader with some Lorie twists.

All but the filigree brad is from PTI. The Aqua Mist color is one of my favorites from PTI and I love how the card stock, patterned paper, ink, and ribbon all match so perfectly! I also decided to decorate the inside a little as the sentiment I chose would be a little lonely looking without it.

So...while I don't enjoy making sympathy cards, I do enjoy making one that I feel will comfort and let the person who is receiving it know that I really do care. I think this card fits that description well.

On my friend Pat's blog she is having a fun "blog giveaway." I thought it would be really neat to do it here as it is a pass it along kinda thing and you all know I love that! So...here you go!

The first 5 people to respond to this post will receive something made by me. It will be my choice what I send to you. But...there is a catch...ready?

1- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2- What I create will be just for you.
3- It'll be done this year!
4- You have no clue what it's going to be. I have tons of ideas, but who knows what it will be? Not you, that's for sure!
5-The catch? Oh, the catch is that you must re post this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same on your blog! (then come here and post, I WILL check your blog *wink*)

The first 5 people to do so and leave a comment telling me they did will win a homemade gift by me! Oh, and be sure to post a picture of what you win when you get it!

So....who will be the first 5 people?????

Oh, and I can't leave you yet without letting you know that limeLIGHT Papercrafts is having a 10% off your entire order sale from NOW until Sunday, February 22nd. Just enter in the code PRESIDENT at checkout and you are all set! Go...order and have no fear...Mandy ships super fast!

page plans sketch day

Good Sunday morning friends! I hope your weekend has been wonderful!

As you know...today is Page Plans sketch day. We were asked to make an adult valentine this week and well, I think I did. I started out thinking that I would like to make a valentine for Todd but realized once I got started that this wasn't going to be for Todd. Don't get me wrong...I like the shabby feel of this card but it just isn't a Todd card.

This was a super easy card to put together. I have used Basic Black, PTI White, and Basic Grey Eva papers, the Sweet N Sassy Stamps set called Home Sweet Home for the sentiment, and the heart border is from a Verve Stamps Set called Hundred Thoughts. Oh, and the new heart punch from Stampin' Up! Tell me...what do you think of this card?

Oh, and did you see what I saw when I looked at my hit counter? That's right ladies...I've gone over 100,000 hits! I can hardly believe it! I would love to give away some Glory from Lorie in honor of this and you know what it is going to be? A Basic Grey Pack. It will have paper (6x6), ribbon, rub-ons and some Basic Grey magnet buckles. If you'd like it..I'd even throw in this card, too! What do you need to do? Just comment on this post and tell me what new things you'd like to see on my blog. Please post your comment (one per person please) by 5 p.m. (EST) January 28th. I will announce the winner on Thursday's blog post. You are more than welcome to share this candy with your friends! **Side Note...if I draw your comment and you haven't left me a way to get a hold of you I will re-draw. **

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I'll see you soon!

page plans week 27

It's Sunday...wooho0! What does that mean? That is right...a new page plans sketch that you can see HERE. Remember how I said yesterday that today's artwork would be nothing like yesterday's? Well, am I right or what? The page plans sketch this week was to be a Halloween theme. I'm not much of a Halloween girl and only have a couple of sets that are specifically Halloween but I think this cat is cute and I really like the patterned paper.

Anyway, this stamp set is a SU! set called Haunting Halloween and the patterned paper is by Creative Imaginations (that I bought just for this card!). I have used Tangerine Tango for my base color and added Lavender Lace for the bottom panel (which has stars and "movement" on the panel but you can't really see it). The little bit of white layer really make the entire card pop. I have used my black and yellow Spica glitter pens for some wonderful sparkle. A little bit of black grosgrain and taadaa...a Halloween card! Whatcha think? Cute?

So...I just finished my Belli Challenge card for Wednesday and if I can say so myself, it is CaUTE!!! My goodness...I love it! In case you haven't figured it out...Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday's are my challenge team days and the rest of the week...free stamping...woohoo! Tomorrow I'll have a SNSS card for ya that is simple yet meaningful. Come back to see it!

And, now...if you've read this far I've decided that you deserve some Glory from Lorie. Since I don't send Halloween cards I thought I would give this card away. That and the rest of the patterned paper (which is cut into smaller, much smaller, pieces). I hope that you like the card enough to just leave me a comment with what your family traditions are for Halloween. Some people trick or treat, some fall festival, and some just don't do anything and all of it is okay. Just let me know...I'd love to hear! You'll have until Tuesday night to leave a comment.

With that...I hope you have a SUPER Sunday!

winner?

WinnerChosen by random.kyler we have a winner for the sketch challenge I issued on Wednesday! And the winner is....Christi! You can see her card HERE. Christi...e-mail me your address and I'll get your Glory from Lorie out on Monday!

Want to see all the entries? I thought I'd make it easy for you by listing them below.

Laurel
Melissa
Martha
Berenice
Sarah
Jen
Cyndi
There is one more from Debby but she doesn't have a blog. Trust me...it is cute!!

Aren't they all great! Thank you, everyone, for participating! Okay, I've been tagged several times this week for the new round of blog tags so I thought I'd go ahead and try to list 7 things about myself...

1. After working full time this week...I'm not sure I could do it all the time. My goodness I was tired by the time I got home. Remember I was getting up at 5:30 a.m. to exercise before the kids got up, getting Kyler to school, then to work from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. I was on my feet almost all day. Very tiring! I have had fun at it though and have two more days this next week then I'll be done for the quarter.
2. I have a tattoo. It is a rose vine kind of thing around my left ankle. I got it during what I'm calling my mid-life crisis (when I turned 30). I still love it though and I'm glad I got it.
3. Growing up I lived in 4 different cities between being born and 3rd grade. We did move more after that but just from house to house...not school, city or states.
4. My trip to Hawaii will be the first time I've flown over a major body of water...now that is a little scary to me!
5. I played clarinet from 5th grade all the way through a senior in high school. I haven't picked it up since then though.
6. In case you didn't know...my favorite color is pink!
7. I have way to many stamps that I don't use and really need to put some up for sale but haven't because it will be a very LARGE project to attack!

I am supposed to tag some more people but I'm just not going to do it. If you'd like to play though...go ahead. Also my blogging friend Kristine gave me a One Sweet Blog award this week. You can go HERE and see what that is all about. I would like to tag all my wonderful readers on this fun award as I really appreciate everyone that visits and participates in my little contests!

Today should bring me some time to stamp and that is good as I have a couple of cards that I need to make. I hope you all have a super Saturday and I'll see you tomorrow!

mini photo album

I know I told you guys some time ago that I had made a mini photo album for my brother for his birthday but I haven't shown it to you yet so...here you go! The tutorial is on SCS HERE and as usual is easy to follow and produces terrific results.

I do not recall exactly what the name of the argyle paper is but I think it was from American Crafts or something like that. The green is the opposite side of the pattern and the blue is Night Quite Navy. The "f" on the front is from one of SU!'s chipboard packs and the little letters are rub-ons from a SU! package too. The pages inside are made with coasters and then covered with paper.

I really had a hard time with the cover of this album simply because I wanted it simple for a guy but to still look nice. I haven't actually sent a gift to my brother for his birthday in years so I really hope he likes it!

Update on the image swap. You can click HERE if you'd like to see who has sent their images and who has not. Of the last four that I am waiting for three of them have been sent. If the last person doesn't get theirs in then I will stamp some images to share with you all. Would that be okay? While I know that we have some people that are a little late getting their images here I do want you to know I will not let this drag on forever and they will be sent out next week. I believe everyone deserves grace and mercy as we all know how life goes sometimes. I'd also like to know what kind of swap you'd like to do next. I know my friend Courtney has the 6x6 recipe swap covered (sign ups are HERE for July's swap!) so I don't need to do that. Shall we do images again, cards with a specific company, cards with NVR, 6x6 scrapbook pages for pictures?...what do you all think?

Oh, yeah...you guys want to know who won the Glory from Lorie, huh? Well...I can't tell you right now because my boys aren't up to pick a number yet! I'll be back in about 20 minutes to announce the winner! Mwah! Grin 4

one sheet pocket book

One of the good things about having a Monday off is that it makes the week go by very quickly! I can't believe it is Wednesday! Is your week going well? I sure hope so!

Today, I'm going to show you the One Sheet Pocket Book that I made. I got a very easy to follow tutorial from HERE. Susanna does a weekly Best of the Blogosphere (that someday I'd love to be featured on) and this tutorial was one of them a couple of weeks ago. The tutorial shows you how to make a One Sheet Pocket Book with a Bind It All binding but if you look at Vicki's blog you'll see an alternate way of binding it which is also super cute!

You can see that I used a sheet of paper from SU's Cutie Pie designer series paper pack. Then on the front I used a sentiment and bouquet from MFT's called Bundles of Bouquets. I just thought the sentiment was perfect for the paper that is filled with flowers! Now, on the inside I have put some Bella images. Some are Bella's some are from the other lines that Em carries. In the back two pockets are some embellishments. What a cute and fun way to give someone some images, huh? Yeah...I think so too sooooo remember when I was talking about doing some Glory from Lorie? Well...this is it! Leave a comment, with a way to get a hold of you, on this post and on Friday morning when I type up my morning post I'll have one of my kiddos choose a number to be the winner. Sound good? Now, it won't earn you any extra entries or anything but go ahead and tell your friends about this Glory from Lorie, post it on your blog. The more the merrier! I do have to tell you that I made this little cutie just for the purpose of giving it away so you know that lots of love and prayers was put into it just for the winner!

I forgot to tell you guys that it looks really good for Kyler and the Christian School. We had our interview which was like getting together with old friends as we knew both the board member and the parent association member that was there to interview us. The board member told us it shouldn't be a problem so...Kyler is going to the Christian school in the fall. YAY!! Todd suggested that we have a couple of get togethers with the kids from the class (even though Kyler knows most of them they have all changed in the last 2 years). So, that means more fun with making invites with a theme and such. We will wait until it is warmer so we can BBQ hot dogs and get out the water slide. FUN!!!

Alright you guys. That is it for today. I hope you LOVE the Glory from Lorie and sign up to win it! Have a wonderful Wednesday!

It's An RAK Day!

I've gotten a couple of really neat RAK's over the last couple of days and wanted to show them to you. First...Bev from Country Frog Creations sent Kyler an envelope when she read about his accident. It arrived yesterday and he was SO excited about it! Kyler has a shelf on the bookshelf in his room where he puts the cards that people send to him so as soon as he read the card, drooled over the candy, and let me take a picture he took the card right in and put it in a place of honor. Bev...thank you so much. It was great to see my son so excited!

Just a quick update about his teeth. We went back to the dentist yesterday, they took another x-ray and determined that his roots have indeed died. It was quite the trauma to his mouth and the roots really didn't have a chance. So...we are going back on Tuesday next week to have root canals in those teeth. You know what is worse though? It is the day before his 10th birthday. The dentist has promised me that he will be feeling 90% better for his family party on Wednesday and should have no problem at his party with friends on Saturday. Kyler is none to happy with the prospects of the root canals BUT he is a trooper and it will be okay...at least that is what I keep telling myself! So, here he is with the RAK. Isn't that the cutest smile? If you look really close you can see the wire that is on his teeth and has to stay there until next week.

This card is from my friend Courtney at Created by Courtney. If we lived closer I think that people would probably guess we are sisters by how much we have in common. Anyway, she was thinking of me so she sent me a card. Isn't it just cute? And that verse...perfect. Thanks Courtney!
And, this card is from Andi at Crafts on a Whim. It was thanking me for being a featured crafter on her blog. Thanking me? All I did was say yes. :o) How cute and thank you so much, Andi!

So, I hope everyone had a fantastic Monday. What did you all do? Did you craft anything? I'm feeling like some Glory from Lorie. How about if you link me up to something you made yesterday so that everyone can see it I'll put you into a chance for some push pin (got them in a swap at Regionals so you know they are cute!) and a Charcoal Colorbox Chalk cat's eye ink pad. Is anyone interested? You have until I post tomorrow morning to link us up to something.

Have a super fantastic Tuesday everyone!

Elzybells Have Arrived

Arghh, ye matey's! LOL! Not sure what that is all about? Check my post below!

I have seen these cute, cute, cute images just about everywhere around the Internet. I finally decided I needed a couple and this is the result of my first try with Moon Girl. I've linked you up to my SCS gallery so that you can see what I used to make this card. Also, this layout is from SCS's sketch challenge #165. If you are ever in need of a sketch just go to the sketch challenge forum at SCS and you will be all set to go. There is even a post that lists all the previous sketches and the sample card that goes with it. Anyway, I have a person in mind for this card so it will probably be going out in the mail soon!

<----------- Did you see the new addition on the left hand side? It is a link to World Vision's sponsorship information. Please feel free to go and peruse that site and if you feel that you'd like to sponsor a child please let me know first so that I can give you a special code to use. (If it isn't there yet...it will be shortly!) May I challenge you today? While you are out and about do something nice for someone else...pay for the coffee of the person behind you, open the door for someone, carry an elderly person's bags for them, just go out of your way to do something good for someone today. If you report it back here maybe I'll have a drawing for a little Glory from Lorie. You have the whole weekend to do this little act of kindness and really, you can post on here once a day 'til Monday. I'll post the winner on Monday morning! Now GO have fun and make someones day!

As Promised

Here are the RAK's I received the other day. The first one is from Rhonda at Quilt Nut Creations. If you didn't see what I have to say about her fun blog yesterday please check out the post below this one to be in the know. I have made her blog name active so that you can go visit her either for the first time or for the second, third or...well, you get it! I just love that little plate of hearts...so cute and fun! I even remember that I commented on it. Thank you so much Rhonda! I love it!

Speaking of love...I said I got two RAK's but what I really got was Rhonda's fun RAK and Courtney's holiday card. Over Christmas Courtney and her family were really busy with lots of stuff so she decided that rather than stressing herself out with making holiday cards and sending them out at that time she would do it for Valentine's Day from this year on. True to her word the cute card you see is her 1st Annual Valentine's Day card from her family! I love the style of the card so sweet and soft. Thanks for including me on your mailing list! Oh, and Courtney, if you are reading this...you'd better be resting!

I had a question on my Z-Fold post. Okay, I think a couple of people asked me the same question. They wanted to know where to score for this type of card. Well...the fabulous Beate has done a tutorial on her blog for visual learners...HERE it is! Have fun with it and feel free to link your card to my blog so I can see, too!

So, I'm wondering...when you clicked into my blog today did you notice anything new 'cuz I have something new on my blog! How about some Glory From Lorie if you notice what is new? I'll pick a name out of all who leave a comment with the correct new addition. If you haven't noticed go ahead and leave my blog and come back. Do it as many times as you need be in order to see the new accent to my blog! You have until I post again tomorrow to find it! Brunette

I hope that you all make today a fantastic Thursday! I'm going to a Women of Vision "meeting" tonight and I'm very excited about it! HERE is their blog...you can click on Calendar to see what the speaker will be talking about tonight.

A New Hanna In Town

I got my new Hanna Stamps set, Domestic Goddess, in the mail last week and I just had to make a card with her. I've actually used a layout from the Bella sketch challenge this week but I thought it was a great layout. 'Spose I should go back and do it with a Bella now, huh? The circle paper is the back side of a really cute paper I got last week that has polka dots and dragon flies. I wanted to use the other size but it didn't look as nice as this side does. I love the splash of black with the ribbon. And is that sentiment not funny? It is part of the Things Hanna Would Say set. All the sayings (28 of them!) in that set fit into the Word Window punch by SU! So convenient!

So, today is the first time to use a little bit smaller picture on my blog. Please let me know if you think it is too small so I can adjust according to your needs. I finally figured out how to make my picture bigger in Adobe Photoshop Elements after I've cropped it so that I can see where the watermark is going. Silly little thing but it was bugging me! LOL!

So...this card goes out today to a Glory from Lorie winner that I've been behind in getting her loot out! Speaking of winners...four people guessed correctly on the heart tins. The correct order is...Lion, Kyler...Boxers, Jon...and Mailbox, Scott. So...the winner is...Jennifer K! Can I get a woohoo?! I already have Jennifer's address so I'll get something out to you this week!

I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday!

A Card and A Question

Okay, all I can say is...isn't he C-U-T-E? My friend Debby gave me a couple of images of Elmer and challenged me to make something with him. It took me almost a week but I finally did it and this is what I came up with. Please try to ignore the glaring mistakes and take in the cuteness of this card (I really like myself today..don't I? LOL!). I used the Bella sketch challenge for this week and designer paper from the Jersey Shore DP and voila! Now...to find a little boy to give a birthday card too! LOL!

Anybody want some Glory from Lorie? I know I'm full of it recently, huh? (be nice, now!) As you guys may or may not know I am a moderator of the Bellaholics group on Yahoo. Everyone seems to have a bella name (like Katiebella) but me. Ahhh...that statement reminded me of my kids for a moment...but, mom...everyone is doing it! Anyway...I don't like Lorabella as my name is Lorie not Laura. Nothing against the Laura's of the world it just isn't my name. So...help me find a name. Just comment here with the name you think I should use, I'll choose one, and you'll get a little something from me if I choose yours! You may use both my blogs to find out things about me to make the name just perfect if you'd like.

And guess what? I just placed my first SAB order today! Woohoo...so excited! I also placed my Occasions Mini pre-order. I've got some fun coming my way next week. So excited!

I hope you all have a super fantastic Friday! I'll see you tomorrow!

I love this box!

This was one of the projects from the Sweet Treats stamp camp on Saturday. It is called a criss-cross box. I found the template on Nichole Heady's blog (PaperTrey Ink) some time ago and just now decided to put it into action. After I printed out the template I looked at it like it was a foreign object as it looked more difficult that I had thought. Well...it isn't! Because I'm not very good with projecting how something will look after it is done (think furniture in an empty room...can't do that) I went ahead and scored and cut my box out first then I went back and stamped at the edges of the two flaps and the front flat section. I used the XOXO stamp from the SU! set Sealed With A Kiss. Then for the front I used one of the sentiments from the brand new SU! Level 1 hostess set called For A Friend. Like on Nichole's box I used the SU! Tab Punch for a way to easily pull the candy out of the box. VERY FUN! The picture doesn't show the detail very well but I hope you like it anyway!

Well, I have decided on a winner for the renaming of my blog candy. Ready?

Linda SS said...

Your card is lovely, but I am so saddened for that family. How about some Glory from Lorie. You can put something in from of it like heavenly glory from Lorie, glittery glory from Lorie, etc.

I love the Glory from Lorie. Doesn't it feel like that when you get "candy" in the mail? Glorious? So, Linda...I hope you will see this and e-mail me your address so I can get you some Glory from Lorie out to you! :o)

Have a great Monday everyone!
