Just Saying Hi

Good morning friends! I'm pleased to say that I'm starting to feel a little better which is evidenced by the fun, bright card I made yesterday.

Hello, my name is Lorie and I'm a stamp-a-holic! I have pretty much stopped purchasing stamps due to the fact that I'm on two wonderful digi/stamp design teams so I don't have much need to purchase stamps BUT when I saw this cute MFT stamp I knew I had to have it! The set is called I Need Some Face Time. My phone...yeah, without it we would be lost in our family as our entire schedule is in it. (that is actually kinda scary!) While I was making this card I knew exactly who I wanted to send it too and can't wait to get it in the mail!

I also used the MFT Feeling Sketchy sketch to make the card. It was just fun to make all the way around!

Well, today is Kyler's last day of school and is a 1/2 day...I can't believe it is that time already! Also, today is Scott's last test of his college career...well, unless he goes back for his masters. And he graduates TOMORROW! I can't believe that I will have a kiddo graduated from college, a kiddo in the Army, and a kiddo entering 8th grade...crazy!

Anyway, big day today so I must go. Have a super day!

Lily of the Valley In The Garden

Just a little stop in here this morning to show a little altered notebook that I made the other day.

When I was looking for a something else I came across this little notebook. I'm sure I bought it to alter as it is just a kraft colored notebook but it got put away and forgotten like so many things do.Smiley from millan.net I received this Pure Innocence set by My Favorite Things in the mail the other day so I decided to use the main image and one of the sentiments on the notebook. I'm sure I've told you before that Lily of the Valley are my all time favorite flower. I adore the strong scent and fragile, pure white flower. It bring back great memories of my childhood! I'm going to use this cute little notebook for prayer requests received.

Anyway, I grabbed out a piece of DCWV paper covered the front of the notebook, paper pieced the girls dress then popped her up on the notebook. I added the Lily of the Valley sentiment just because I love the name so much. LOL!

The Lily of the Valley flower itself also very much so reminds me of a song (weird I know) call In The Garden. Below is a great rendition of the song by Brad Paisley. Enjoy the song and have a wonderful Saturday!

I Love Us.

Hi friends! Today I have a fun card to show you with a set that I've had for a little while now, it is Flapper Doodles - I Love Us. That couple is just so cute together aren't they?

I have had this patterned paper from SEI for awhile now, too. I thought it might be fun to dress up this couple in some brown and gold as if they are going for a night out on the town. Most things that are gold on this card are shimmery...including the patterned paper. Yes, I know the hearts are very bright compared to the paper but I just had to have red hearts! I used the great Sweet Stop Sketch for this week on this card and it is just the perfect layout for this image, huh?

Well, that is about it for today. I hope you have a wonderful day today and that you'll join me tomorrow for a fun Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps card. See you then!

Winter In The City

Morning friends! Oh, gosh...it has been quite the struggle to get a good photo of my cards the last couple of days, hence the late post today but at least I'm here, right?

I bought the MFT VIP kit about a week ago and in that kit was the Winter In The City stamp set. What I didn't know is that I was getting it in advance of the general sales to the public so...you can order this set on MFT's website starting this evening. Fun, huh?

Anyway, this is my first holiday card of the year. Frankly, I had decided I am not going to make many Christmas cards this year so I was trying to hold off but I love this image. Looking at it, though, it doesn't need to be just for the holidays so I'm going to have to try it in other ways too. The paper I used for this card is some retired SU! paper and the card is made with the Mojo Monday sketch. It is probably hard to see but I made some lines in the skirt so it would look like it is pleated and then used Smooch on the snow and the white portions of the jacket.

So, a short but sweet blog post today. I hope your week is going well and I'll see ya tomorrow!

Going Grey with Scrap- Creations

And here we are at another week of Going Grey Challenges with Scrap-Creations! I love this day of the week...can ya tell?

This week's challenge is to make a back to school card. I know...you are thinking, this is back to school? Well, here is the thing...I love to encourage my kids when it comes to school so rather than make a traditional back to school card I decided to make a card that I could give to Kyler on the first day of school to remind him that I love him and that he is SO going to rock his 7th grade year! The Basic Grey paper that I used is called Archaic and the "you rock" sentiment is an Archaic rub-on....fun, huh? Oh, the notebook piece of paper is from the Basics Manila Paper pad. That sweet image? A Pure Innocence image from MFT. Doesn't that boy look a bit like my Kyler? SO CUTE!

Alright everyone...hope on over to Kristen's blog HERE to check out the challenge and play along. Don't forgot to check out my fellow DT member's cards by clicking on their names from my side bar!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

call me

So...here is one of the MFT sets that was saying use me! It is a mini set appropriately named Call Me. This card is pretty straight forward and the layout one that you see me fall back on regularly. The patterned paper is by Imaginisce and is called Drapin' Daisies and has some shimmer built into it so there was no need to add any.

I made this because there is a friend of mine that I used to talk with or hang out with almost every day that I just haven't heard from in awhile. I hope that I haven't done anything to offend her so I thought I'd throw this card in the mail and let her know I've been thinking of her a lot recently.

On a side note. Katie, the owner of 3 Little Dreams let us know this weekend that she will be discontinuing her business as of Sept 1st so you'll not be seeing anymore design team things from me. I hope this gives her the break that she needs for her family and wish her the best.

So, yeah, guys...that is about it today. As always Monday is a busy day for me so I need to be moving along onto other things. Have a super day!

meet me at the cafe

Remember when I showed you the MFT sets that I got HERE? Well...I'm just getting the chance to try one of them called Meet Me At The Cafe. I hope that you all like this card because I love it. I have a couple of friends that have birthday's this month and I'm already behind in making them cards. This is for one of them. I uploaded the card to SCS last night so you can go HERE to see the colors and paper that I used for this card. I just realized that I didn't color in the seats of the chairs...duh! Guess I'll need to do that before I send it out, huh?

So, today I'll make another birthday card so I can be not so late with the other one. I will also be working on my office challenge cards. Yep, one of my co-workers (hi, Debby! *waving!*) challenged us to make some cards with a couple of super cute images from Stamping Bella called Tutuface and Fabby . I've got one done and a layout idea (which will look suspiciously like another layout from recently) for the other. So...stay tuned!

So today we go to our summer schedule at church which is a 9:30 a.m. service and an 11:00 a.m. service (usually first service is at 8:45 a.m.). Most people think this is good but I don't as I always end up running late as I loose track of time. Cuckoo Clock I know, I know...I'm weird! So, today...I will try to be on time (which is a 1/2 hour early because of my job)...wish me luck!

I hope you all have a splendid Sunday and find time to craft today!

one sheet pocket book

One of the good things about having a Monday off is that it makes the week go by very quickly! I can't believe it is Wednesday! Is your week going well? I sure hope so!

Today, I'm going to show you the One Sheet Pocket Book that I made. I got a very easy to follow tutorial from HERE. Susanna does a weekly Best of the Blogosphere (that someday I'd love to be featured on) and this tutorial was one of them a couple of weeks ago. The tutorial shows you how to make a One Sheet Pocket Book with a Bind It All binding but if you look at Vicki's blog you'll see an alternate way of binding it which is also super cute!

You can see that I used a sheet of paper from SU's Cutie Pie designer series paper pack. Then on the front I used a sentiment and bouquet from MFT's called Bundles of Bouquets. I just thought the sentiment was perfect for the paper that is filled with flowers! Now, on the inside I have put some Bella images. Some are Bella's some are from the other lines that Em carries. In the back two pockets are some embellishments. What a cute and fun way to give someone some images, huh? Yeah...I think so too sooooo remember when I was talking about doing some Glory from Lorie? Well...this is it! Leave a comment, with a way to get a hold of you, on this post and on Friday morning when I type up my morning post I'll have one of my kiddos choose a number to be the winner. Sound good? Now, it won't earn you any extra entries or anything but go ahead and tell your friends about this Glory from Lorie, post it on your blog. The more the merrier! I do have to tell you that I made this little cutie just for the purpose of giving it away so you know that lots of love and prayers was put into it just for the winner!

I forgot to tell you guys that it looks really good for Kyler and the Christian School. We had our interview which was like getting together with old friends as we knew both the board member and the parent association member that was there to interview us. The board member told us it shouldn't be a problem so...Kyler is going to the Christian school in the fall. YAY!! Todd suggested that we have a couple of get togethers with the kids from the class (even though Kyler knows most of them they have all changed in the last 2 years). So, that means more fun with making invites with a theme and such. We will wait until it is warmer so we can BBQ hot dogs and get out the water slide. FUN!!!

Alright you guys. That is it for today. I hope you LOVE the Glory from Lorie and sign up to win it! Have a wonderful Wednesday!

can you dig it?

Here is another card that I made with one of my new MFT's stamp sets. It is called Can You Dig It and, as usual, I love the set! Actually, I was attracted to the set the moment I saw it but didn't realize how difficult it would be for me to stamp with it. One of the first things I did after getting this set was to make a mask of the gardener girl. I knew I would want to put grass and sky behind her so a mask was a necessity. You must know that this is my first try at a "scene" type of card. I'm definitely going to try it again as I really like this set and can see myself doing lots of things with it. I just need to not be afraid of it...LOL! All the paper is from PTI and most of the ink too. PTI hasn't come out with a list of COPICS that match their ink colors yet so I just took a small paint brush, smooshed the top of the Palette Ink pad for some color and painted the flowers with the two colors. I added a little Liquid Pearls in the middle and that was that. Oh, and I messed up on the water can and accidentally cut off the handle...oops! So, whatcha think? I did make one other project yesterday but it isn't up to snuff enough yet to post it on the blog but hopefully tomorrow!

This week has just FLOWN by...I can't believe it is Friday already! I hope you all have had a great week and that you gets lots done this weekend!

bundles of bouquets

So, yah...remember those My Favorite Things sets from the other day? Yep, I got to stamp with one of them yesterday! I used the most beautiful Bundles of Bouquets set. This card uses some really fun things. First, I used some of my new Basic Grey ice cream parlor paper. Isn't it just elegant in this application? Then I used my new rectangle Nestabilities...both a straight and scallop cut. Oh, and even though you can't see it I did emboss the white rectangle too. LOVE them! The final thing that I'm thrilled about is that the base card is made with some light blue Bazzil paper that I got on clearance some time ago. I just LOVE how it all goes together so well! Last night was Bible study but in the afternoon I got a call from one of the participants that her mother wasn't doing well (ongoing health issues) and that her mom will die very soon. So, I made this card, took it with to study and everyone signed it. This is going to be such a hard time for her so I hope that this card brings her some comfort.

I am so pleased this morning because my neck feels SO much better. Still a little pain when I turn it one way but I can live with it! Woohoo! Thank you so much for your words of comfort yesterday! I so appreciate it! As of late morning yesterday my grandfather was doing a little better. The fever was able to be controlled by medicine and there is no pneumonia so those are both good things. I'm hoping to get a call again this morning to let me know what is going on today as well. Thank you for letting me tell you all about it and for praying for my grandpa. It is good to know that so many people are praying and thinking of him!

Yeah, so I accidentally erased my signature and I have no idea where to find it so you'll be fish-less today! LOL! I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!

my favorite things

My Favorite Things had a sale not to long ago that I took advantage of and here are the fun sets that I got. Bundles of Bouquets, Can 'Ya Dig It, It's A Jungle Out There, and Meet Me At The Cafe. Aren't they cute? I don't have many MFT sets so this should do me for awhile.

I didn't get the chance to do any stamping yesterday but today I plan on sitting down to get some done today. My area of the US is getting strange weather just like everyone else's. It seems that we are going to be in the 40's with rain and snow for the next couple of days. The pass to Seattle was to get up to 2 MORE feet of snow which is on top of the 130" it was showing on February 1st. Crazy stuff going on! I'm honestly not so sure about that global warming stuff! LOL!

So...you guys enjoy your Sunday and I'll see you tomorrow!

Birthday Wishes

Some of you may know that my grandpa is very special to me. As a child my parents were very good about making sure that my brother and I got to see my grandparents on a regular basis. Sometimes we made the four hour drive twice a month. Oh, geeze...I don't want to bore you with the memories of that time but just typing this little but has brought that time right back...I love it! My grandma died about 11 1/2 years ago now (wow!) and my grandpa remarried a wonderful lady who loves him and takes care of him. Anyway, this coming Wednesday is his birthday and I send him a card every year. Grandpa and Fern have a little room in their house that they have their two chairs and a t.v in. Knowing I had this MFT's set called This One's for the Boy I knew I had to make his card with it. I struggled and struggled and I'm still not "in love" with it but I think it suits him well. Speaking of that side of the family if you would all please pray for my aunt Cindy. Something is going on that has her in ICU. Not sure what it is but I know it is tearing my grandpa up inside (he's already lost one wife and a daughter). So please prayers for her.

I also wanted to show you how I'll be signing the back of my cards this year. Grandpa's card was the first one to receive this signature (because I just mounted the stamp...lazy Lorie!). I really think it suits me well.

Anyway, I hope you all have a fantastic Saturday! I'm going to try and photograph my heart tins so you guys can see them tomorrow!
