Crafty Post Of A New Kind

Morning friends! I just have to tell you that the first couple of days of school have gone well for the boys. They both like their teachers and it sounds like there will be lots of new things to do. Now, ask me again in 6 months how it is going...lol!

Onto my craft for the day. You need to know right at the start...I am not a sewer. I would LOVE to be a sewer but that would require practice and I just haven't done it. However, when I saw THIS I wanted to make some of those and I knew exactly who I wanted to have help me. So, I e-mailed my friend, Jen, a link to the blog and set up a date to make them. Okay, these are supposed to be one hour to make bags...nope, didn't happen with me...it was the first time for me though and being a non-sewer...well...that is how I make myself feel better...lol! I do believe I could possibly make more bags all on my own though so that is good right? Oh, and my bags...they are a little smaller than if you were to use the directions they give you as I'm a dork and cut it at the wrong spot. DUH! I'm so glad Jen is one of the most patient people that I've ever met!

Well, anyway...here are the bags. I'm going to put things like tissues, lotion, hand sanitizer, candy in one of the bags and give it to Kyler's teacher as a beginning of the year gift. Just have to figure out which one to pick for her. Maybe that should be Kyler's job, huh?

Oh, gosh you guys...I was just looking for a smiley and look at what I found...That is just WAY to cute! I hope I get to use that smiley soon! LOL!

Anyway, have a super weekend everyone!

Those bags are so cute! I wouldn't of guessed that you didn't know how to sew.

Those totes are wonderful! Thanks for the link...cause I'm gonna have to make a couple now :) I AM a sewer...but it will probably take me more than an hour still! And the smiley thing...those are cute!! There are like 3 of them I think...and all so fun :)

I am able to sew, used to do alterations when I was a SAHM. But sewing is not at the top of my list now. Thanks for the link though, it has some really good ideas for when I make gifts for co-workers and friends so I have signed up for newsletters. Thanks again.

Love the bags! I sew occasionally - easy stuff mostly. It's very relaxing once you get started. Like anything else...practice makes perfect...or at least you get a little faster at it!! LOL!!
Thanks for sharing!

You did a great job on these! I think we were having too much fun laughing to pay attention to the directions! Luckily, these bags can be made whatever size you want! ;-)

OK... I'm gonna do it! Now that I really have a "need" for them. My girls are learning to knit in 4-H (and so am I) - and we each are working the 2 skeins of yarn at the same time as we're making checkered slippers! But we've been carrying our needles and yarn in plastic Safeway grocery sacks and the needles keep poking holes in the bags! So, I need to get some material (hopefully today!) and sew up one of these for each of us!! THink I can make 3 in a day? LOL = I'm no sewer either! I TRY to sew on my cards, but I can't really do a straight stitch, but that's okay. Doesn't have to be perfect right? As long as it'll hold our "stuff" --but it would really be a plus if mine turned out as nice as yours did! LOL :) Thanks for posting this Lorie. Hope you're having a good weeked. OH, and if there's something I should know about these... like any snags you ran into or just little things that could save me some trouble I'd REALLY LOVE TO KNOW!! LOL. Thanks!
