Yikes! It is snowing!

Well, looks like our trip over the pass to take Jon to the airport will be a harrowing one. The pass right now is chains required for all vehicles except all wheel drive (which we have) and no oversized vehicles. We have about two hours before we will leave but I doubt it will change much. I just sent the kids about to shovel 'cuz it looks like we have a couple of inches of snow already. Yes, it's still snow...big huge flakes...but if you get to far behind on the shoveling then when you finally go out...it takes FOREVER!

I have some cards that I received in a swap that I haven't shared with you yet so today is the day! They are from the Stinkin' Cute Swap that I was in a few weeks ago. I love this swap because it really shows how versatile this cute little set can be. There are Christmas cards, summer cards, and just plain cute cards in all color families. I like doing swaps that are smaller. Some swaps you can do upwards of over 25. This was a small 5 card swap which was perfect for me! Enjoy!

Okay, I'm off to worry a little bit more about the snow and the trip. ;0)

Happy Saturday!

I got to sleep in this morning!

Yahoo! It's Friday and the first day of Christmas break! Today we will be having Christmas for Jon as he leaves on Saturday for Wisconsin. He's very excited and frankly so am I. I can't wait to see if he likes what we picked out for him!

I did another card yesterday from the sketch challenge I'd like to share. For this card I used So Saffron, Almost Amethyst, and Bordering Blue CS. The Happy Birthday is from the level one hostess set Warmest Regards. The other stamp sets are Level 2 hostess set Both Way Blossoms and Fine Lace BG. It didn't turn out quite how I expected but it looks okay.

I also did a card for the Color Challenge on SCS but I'm not at all happy with it so before I post it I'm going to try again.

Hope everyone has a great Friday!

Love the Sketch Challenge!

I decided to try SC103 on SCS. I made two cards with this sketch which are distinctly different. One is with Ahoy Matey and the coordinating wheel, Matey's Map. I used Cheesecloth BG, Aida Cloth BG, and cut out his sword a little. I've never made a card with this set that wasn't red and black so it looks a little strange to me. The colors are Buckaroo Blue and More Mustard.

The other card is with Flower Fest and it's coordinating wheel, Leaf Fest. I also used the Winter Mini set Small Sayings for the sentiment. The colors on this one is Vintage Violet and Mellow Moss. I got out the beautiful Vintage Violet Stitched Ribbon and cut out the flower at the top of the mellow moss.

Oh, the weather outside is...

cold! Darn it! Although it's been much colder we are gearing up for another snowstorm tonight and they already have a severe weather alert out. Yikes! I was thinking I'd send Kyler's mice with him to school today just in case they cancel school tomorrow but then I remembered...they don't do that here! Anyway, I want to show you the post it note holder that I made to go with the note card set for Kyler's teacher. It's with the same set but using a more springy type of theme for the coloring. In real life it looks really nice. This teacher is really an art kind of guy and they do lots of art stuff in the classroom so hopefully he'll like it.

Yesterday I said I'd work on the SAB card to show you and I'm done with it. If you are a regular customer of mine be looking for your SAB catalog in the mail very soon! If not...let me know and I'll get one sent out to you! First I want to tell you what SAB is...

The actual saying with this stamp is *bug me any time*...it just didn't fit my purpose. I used Crosshatch and Big Pieces for the backgrounds and Warm Words for the sayings. Gingham ribbon and stickles round out the card. This layout is based on Sketch Challenge 102 from SCS. A new sketch is posted every Wednesday if you are interested in joining in. I'll be looking to see what the sketch is for today a little later.

Hope you all have a great Wednesday! Check back tomorrow for an after Christmas Special!

EEECCKKK!!!!

My stamping desk has been overcome by mice! Okay...so these are the cute homemade mice but I thought the title would catch your attention and it did, huh? Anyway, a while back I said I was going to make these for Kyler's classmates and I'm finally finished. I made 36 of those suckers and that is the reason why they are very basic. I didn't background stamp them and I taped the candy cane to the back of the mouse with shipping tape. I still think they are very cute. In addition to Kyler's classmates the little kiddos of Todd's co-workers are going to get one too.

I won a contest! I won a contest! I posted a comment at my friend Gwen's blog during the time she was having a contest and I won! I received my prize yesterday and I'm oh, so thrilled! First, the prize was some wonderful die cuts for me...scalloped squares and circles and some cute hearts (I'm working on a card with the SAB set Very Punny and the scalloped squares!). BUT she also included some candy that she makes for her family at Christmas (yummy!) and some potpourri that she makes, as well! I'm going to put the potpourri on the stove today! Oh, and do you see that incredible cute note card she made? Thank you so much Gwen!!!

Today I will finish up my SAB card and post it for you tomorrow (If I like it that is!). I'm feeling pretty good about my Christmas shopping and such. I do believe I'm all done. What that means is that I've probably missed something so hopefully it will come to me soon!

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Sunday, December 17, 2006

Woohoo! I actually got to stamp yesterday! I did lots of cutting for something you'll see later in the week but most importantly I got the teacher gift done! Yay! Since Kyler has a male teacher I wanted it to be very simple and guyish. He loves to fly fish and loves salmon (they had a whole unit on the life cycle of salmon) so I decided to borrow the set Fly Fishin' from my friend Kathy (thanks Kathy!) and make a note card set. I just stamped three fish and colored it in with colors from a picture of a certain type of salmon (can't remember which one) that Kyler picked out. I stamped one reel or fly on each envelope and then to finish I stamped and then colored the fishing scene on the front of the folder. I'm still not sure I like that...I may do it again with some layering to make it look a little nicer but for now it's fine. I used velcro to close the note card folder instead of ribbon or twine simply because I stamped directly on the envelope. I'll probably change that if I re-do the folder.

I got all of Todd's Christmas presents wrapped and under the tree last night. The boys each picked something out of my pile of stuff and wrapped those up too. It's fun to see gifts arriving under the tree! This week the rest of the presents will get wrapped and put under the tree. Santa doesn't come to our house (and yes, my kids are very good) so the only real *surprise* is the stockings on Christmas morning. Jon, my middle son, leaves on Saturday the 23rd to go to his dad's so he will be opening his stuff on the 22nd. Very exciting 'cuz we got him something really neato!

Anyway, today is church and then we will be going to a friend's house for brunch. THEN, this afternoon we will be making gingerbread houses for the kids to decorate. We do them homemade style. I mix up the gingerbread, Todd and the boys put them in the Longaberger mold that I have and then they get baked up. When they cool the boys get to decorate them. This year we are trying candy bark to make them stick together. We've tried lots of things and so far the sides of the houses have been so heavy they fall apart. Maybe we should just do half the amount in the mold? That's an idea to try!

Anyway, have a spectacular Sunday everyone!
