star tin and cards

Ahhh...you gotta love Saturday's don't ya? This is a little gift set that I made about a week ago that I am just now getting a chance to show you. First, please imagine the ribbon on the outside of the tin being straight. I can't believe I didn't notice that before!

So...what did I use to make this tin? Well...lets see...the beautiful Baja Breeze snowflake paper is from the Level 3 Holiday Happenings Bundle, the ribbon is Riding Hood Red Taffeta, the stars from the Holiday Mini's star ornament set, and the tin is from SU! (and they are available in packs of 3 right now) and the silver cording is that elastic silver cord that I told you about earlier in the week. The belly band slides right off and...

When you open up the tin inside you will find two of each of the cards that you see below. The cards are note card sized and are stamped with PTI's Snowflake Serenade set. I added a little bit of bling in the center of the snowflakes and I must say...they are lovely.

Now, I am aware that the outside and the inside of this set doesn't really match that well (the stars are what I'm referring to) but I do love this set. The stars can be removed so they are able to be used within the recipients house or on their tree.

I hope that your gift making is coming along well and that maybe you got an idea or two for something you'd like to make.

Have a super Saturday everyone! Get lots and lots of stamping done!

CPS sketch #91

It's Friday...It's Friday...woohoo! Believe it or not...this week has gone SO slow for me. I shouldn't complain I know but I'm so glad it is Friday!

Today I want to show you the super cute card that I made with this week's CPS sketch. I love this card...hate the photo. I just can't figure out how to take a good picture of a lighter colored card. I should probably wait 'til daytime but I just don't work that way unfortunately.

Anyway, I had much fun with this card. The base layer is Shimmery White, then Night of Navy, and finally some Frosty Day designer series paper. The snowman is a new release from Verve stamps called Snow Wonder and is SO cute! I stamped the snowman on shimmery white and colored him minimally with my COPIC markers. I used a strip of Tangerine Tango card stock and stamped it with some snowflakes from Snow Burst. Also, I added a couple of sparkly Christmas tree brads to the side. This is a large card at 4" x 9 1/4". It is a great size and card but how do I...or do I send it?

Anyway, I hope you have a great Friday and if you have any thoughts on better photos for light colored cards I'd love to hear it!

Tomorrow I'm finally going to show you what I'm calling my Star Tin. I hope you'll come back and see it!

sarah's bella sketch challenge

Good morning friends! It sure has been a busy week here at our house with no real time to get any of my fun stamping in...darn it! This card today I made a few days ago from my friend Sarah's Bellaholic Anonymous Sketch Challenge for November.

For this card I used some patterned paper that I got at a local scrapbook store. I cannot remember who the manufacturer is but the stripes are on one side and the polka dots on the other. Very cute paper with a great combination of burgundy, blush, brown, and white. Anyway, I stamped Lattebella on my favorite PTI white and colored her with my COPIC markers. This card opens on the right where the dots end so I created a simple belly band with some chocolate chip card stock and a "cheers" stamp. I attached Lattebella to the belly band so all you have to do is take the belly band off to access the inside of the card.

God has been talking with me about sharing a scripture with a woman that I don't really know but is having a hard time right now so I decided to use this card to write to her. I hope that she likes it and that my words make sense to her.

I hope that you will all try out Sarah's sketch...it is a fun one! I'm working on another card with a sketch from CPS and hope to finish that today. I'll also do some shopping for Thanksgiving dinner. How are your preparations coming? Even though it is usually just my very immediate family for Thanksgiving I still love it! It is such a warm, yummy time!

I'm off to get all my stuff done! I hope that you take the time to really enjoy your day!

belli challenge #43

Good morning stampers! As you all know today is Belli Challenge day and today we are working with cord. Although I must say that my post looks more like I was working on last week's challenge again (which was tags).

I found this big tag on my mess that I call my desk and thought I could make something with that so away I went. I covered the tag in some Basic Grey Wassail paper (that I just got yesterday and it is gorgeous!) and then I thought maybe it was just to bright and I kind of wanted a vintage look so I used my antique linen distress ink and just rubbed it all over the tag...front and back. I stamped my sentiment (PTI again) and realized that would be way to bright too so I distressed that with the same ink. I wanted to used a felt flurry snowflake (winter mini) on my tag so I used a Wassail glazed brad in the middle and tied some silver cord around the prongs in the back to secure the cord to the snowflake. The snowflake is removable so it can be hung on a tree or somewhere around the recipients house. Then I decided to use some of SU! rope twine (winter mini) on the end so I cut three length and then pulled apart the ends to make it look frayed.

Soooo...what can you do with the cord you have laying around your house? Whip something up, upload to to your favorite place with CBC43 as your keyword and then link back to Chris's blog (below) for a chance to win a fun prize! Here are the Belli players this week...

So, I'll be over to Chris's blog this next week checking to see if you've participated so I hope that you do!

Can a brag on my family for a moment please? If you don't want to hear it...just stop reading now and I'll see ya tomorrow...k? First, last week was report card week in our house. I remember as a kid that it wasn't a fun time for me...I struggled a lot. Thankfully my boys don't struggle. Jon has a B+ average...yep, a B+!!! Isn't that just wonderful? And Kyler...he is doing super too! He has an A in Bible and a B in Latin among other wonderful grades. To me...that A is of utmost importance. We send him to a Christian school so that he can grow in and learn a Christian world view. He is a wonderful boy of God and we want him to be a wonderful man of God as well! Speaking of wonderful man of God...Todd is the Chapel speaker at Kyler's school today. I'm so proud of him! I know he will do a great job and I can't wait to see Kyler introduce him! I would love to brag on Scott's report card too but he doesn't have one yet. I can tell you that he did a great job on a "project" in his Political Science class yesterday. He got all the extra credit points that he possibly could so go Scott!

Okay...enough...this is long...sorry about that! Have a super Wednesday and I'll see you tomorrow!

Good morning everyone! I know...you are all here to see who won the blogaversary loot, right? Well, I am going to tell you but first you must see the last three birthday swap cards from stamp last week. Mean aren't I?

The cards above and below were made by Stephanie. They are both just so happy and bright! I totally know who the cat card is going to! Great job Steph!
The card below was made by Nicole who, by the way, is a brand new stamper. This is the first card she has made with her own stuff and/or me looking over her shoulder...lol! It is so cute and I think she did a great job!
And finally you get to find out who the winner for the blogaversary loot is. Ready? Okay...here you go...

thanksgiving page plans card

It is a quiet Sunday morning in my house. That is probably because the boys aren't up yet...lol! It is Page Plans day and boy this one was a doozy! I sat, and sat, and sat trying to figure out what to do with the dead space on the left of my card (right in the sketch). This is what I came up with...what do you think?

I used two sets, Turkey Day and Happy Harvest, from Sweet N Sassy Stamps. You guys know I had to use my favorite turkey. The patterned paper is from the Debby Mumm pad that I got for my birthday and the ribbon that says "family" is from the Target Dollar Spot. For the Happy Thanksgiving ribbon I just used a piece of cardstock, cut the ends and then slightly bowed it to make it look wavy. It is a neat technique that I've seen before and I think looks pretty good in this application. This card, along with the others that I've made with my SNSS, will be going to one of our sets of parents. I'm so thrilled to actually have cards for them this year!

I hope you are inspired by the Page Plans sketch you see here. You can go to the Page Plans blog to see what the other designers have made for today.

In the meantime...have a super Sunday and be sure to sign up for my blogaversary loot below!

it's a blogaversary

Morning everyone! Whose blogaversary is it? It is MY blogaversary. Two years ago (on the 12th I actually started my blog but on the 14th I started posting cards) today I started my blog! I can hardly believe two years have gone by!

First and foremost...thank you to all my wonderful friends that have supported me over the last couple of years. You guys make it all so much fun for me. I was just looking and did you know that Dawn Griffith was my very first commenter. How very cool is that...I love Dawn and she is uber talented so you should go visit her blog HERE!

Now...what you guys are all wondering...what am I going to do for my blogaversary? Well, as thank you (besides my undying thanks) I'm going to give away the package shown to the right. Yep, you will get a SU! Create a Calendar kit, TWO COPIC (R11 and R22) markers, and the three projects we made at stamp club Wednesday night.

What do you need to do to win? Leave a comment...tell me what you like about my blog and if there is something you'd wish I do or wish I'd do differently let me know that too! There is no obligation to tell anyone else but if you want your friends to get a try at the loot too then go ahead and put it on your blog or call 'em up! You have until Sunday night at 8:00 p.m. (Pacific Time) to leave your comment! I'll let you know the winner on Monday morning!

Again, thank you everyone! Please be sure to leave me some way to contact you if you win!

Be sure to scroll down for the current day's blog post!
