embrace life

Good Monday morning friends! This is the last week of school for the kiddos before break for Christmas so I really need to get a lot done. I don't even have my cards for family out yet so that is a today or tomorrow must do for me!

Anyway, I just thought I'd show the card I made for Todd's co-worker. His co-workers MIL died last weekend and while the office has a card and is sending a plant I just wanted to do something else. I know, from experience, that giving a plant is not the way to go. When my mom died we were overwhelmed with plants, flowers, and the like. We did give many of them away to the nursing home though. Anyway, now I much prefer to give to a charity or other organization in the name of the loved one that has died.

On to the card. The paper is from PTI and is their Vintage Cream color. I then cut a Nestability from a scrap piece of paper for the main image to make my reverse mask. I sponged with PTI's Spring Moss ink. The image is from SU!'s Embrace Life set with the sentiment being from PTI's Mixed Messages set. Finally I tied a knot in some Chocolate Satin ribbon from PTI and called it done (other than the sentiment inside of course).

Well, I'm off to get my day started. I've posted a new recipe on my Tastefully Simple blog so if you are interested you can see it HERE. Have a super day everyone!

What a beautiful card, I know it will be appreciated! I think so many people send plants and flowers because they just don't know what else to do. But donating in their name to a charity is a wonderful idea! You're so smart! :)

Beautiful card, and I LOVE your idea of giving to a charity or organization in honor of the deceased ones family! My hubby and father-in-law own a funeral home and we see lots of people who are overwhelmed with all of the flowers and plants, and a lot of them go to the nursing homes by us too....which is nice too. But I love your idea! Hope you get your cards done! I have one more exam left today! Woo-Hoo...then just 2 more Wednesday and I am done until january! Yahoo...I can't wait to stamp!
Hugs~ Kim

Nice and simple--those are always perfect for sympathy cards. The shiny ribbon is always an elegant touch too. =)

That is a beautiful card!

I'm with you on the plant thing too. A donation to a charity is a great idea! We've done that numerous times (as well as had it done when family members passed) and it is always well received.

Anyway - love the card! Will be making some like this soon!!!
