what a pain!

Good Thursday morning! And a good day it will be! You may or may not know that today is my birthday. I'm always quite spoiled on my day. I don't have to cook, today is my day off exercising, and I get to stamp whenever I want! From caramel coffee to special toast and my favorite chicken Parmesan...I get to eat whatever I want and Todd will make it all...woohoo! Who wouldn't love it? Read on down for the birthday candy I'm giving away.

I made this card for a friend of Kyler's who was on a field trip with his class when he fell and split his knee open needing 12 stitches. Poor guy! I bet that is SO painful! So...I had to make a card for Kyler to send him. I once again used the CHF set Comforting Hugs. The patterned paper is from the retired SU! designer series paper pack called Jersey Shore. I wish it was still available as it is one of my favorite packs of paper to go to when making cards for younger boys. Oh, and the layout is from a Taylored Expressions challenge (#25) from some time ago. So...whatcha think? Cute, huh?

Okay, now for my birthday blog candy. I am going to give one lucky reader of my blog the Sweet N Sassy Stamps set called Pray Without Ceasing. You can see the set HERE. Now, there is no requirement other than to leave a comment telling me what your favorite birthday memory is. You can share this on your blog so lots of people can have a chance to win but it isn't a condition of winning. You have until Sunday at 5:00 p.m. to leave a comment. I'll post the winner shortly after that. Good luck!

Have a super day today everyone!

Happy Birthday Lorie, watch your snail mail for some goodies coming your way.
My birthdays were huge celebrations, living in a Filipino community we weren't talking 5 to 8 kids we were talking hundreds of people showing up to eat (there was enough foood to feed a small third world country, dance, play games, etc. I thought everybody's birthday was like that. So much fun. Hope you have a great celebration too.

Happy Birthday! We Libras are the best, aren't we??? I also have a birthday coming up ... Oct 22 and it's a BIGGIE!! Maybe that will be my favorite birthday moment one day. My DH & DD are throwing me a party next weekend - started out as a surprise, but when the party's at MY house, who's gonna clean if I don't know about it??!!!

I have a couple of good birthday memories. When I turned 50, my best friend had a surprise birthday party for me at a local motel. She rented a room & had all my girlfriends there. We had such fun playing games, having a few cocktails and a slumber party!!

Another time, some friends tricked me! We all planned a Halloween party & I got all dressed up - wig, mini-skirt, boots, etc. Turns out, I was the only one dressed up - it was a birthday party for me instead!!

Hope you have a wonderful day!!

Happy Birthday Lorie! It sounds like you have a wonderful day in store for you! My mom and I were just talking about you and your mom over the weekend. We were driving to Iowa to visit Julie and Lilly (niece) and were talking about the future and wondering what your mom would be doing now if she was still with us. Let's see... my favorite birthday memory... so many of them! Growing up, it would have to be the trips to the pumpkin farms as part of my birthday party each year. Most recently, I did the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society on my 26th birthday (26 miles on my 26th birthday) and raised over $5,000 for the cause in memory of your mom. I'm not sure you even knew about that one! And, Ghiradelli was a sponsor too, so we got some chocolate at mile 20! : )

Happy Birthday Lorie. I am at the age, that I no longer "count" my birthdays-LOL. My favorite birthdays are ones I get to spend with both my dd and ds and that is very rare these days as everyone is so spread out. It is not about the gifts, or food, but our time together. Enjoy your day and family. Darlene

That's easy!! My favorite birthday memory is June 5, 1995 -- it was my 21st birthday AND the day I got engaged!!! Very special. And Brandon was smart to combine the 2 so he only had to remember one date ;)

Hope you have a great day!!!

Cute band-aid card -- I'm sure it will bring a smile to his face.

(I'm off to go make special toast for breakfast!)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Sounds like you have an amazing day planned!:) What fun ~ Sounds like my kind of birthday.

one of my fav memories is this past year when I threw my grandmother a birthday party. She started crying and then told me in her 70+ years she has never been given a birthday. It broke my heart .. but I was so glad to have given it to her

Happy Birthday Lorie. Have a GREAT day.
I have two favorite birthday memories. One was my 16th birthday, I had a great party with friend and family. I got a pair of pearl earrings. They are still one of my favorites.
Second was my 40th birthday. My husband and cousin planned a surprise party. I told them that I did not want a party. It turned out to be a great night. We had just adopted our first two boys and they loved helping plan a surprise for Mom. I can not believe that they kept it a secret since they were 4 and 5 years old.

Happy Birthday to you!!! Sounds like a great day.
My favorite bday so far has to be the one I had right after becoming a mother. My son was 2 weeks old and after not having family around I had my parents, my hubby, new son, niece and my sister all with me. Not to mention that my sister and I share the exact same birthday (just a year apart).

Happy birthday! I hope your day is fabulous!!! I love this darling card. I need to get that set.

My fave bday memory ~ I will go with this year since it was just a couple weeks ago. Even though I didn't feel great, it was special that my Dad made dinner for us and we had a quiet evening with my parents. Plus Emma was so into it. I loved watching her play with my gifts and dancing to my musical cards.

Happy Happy Birthday sweet sweet Lorie. Enjoy your day!Love the card you made for your sons friend.

Mmm favorite birthday memory would be when my kids made me a birthday cake a couple of years ago. They let me sleep in and we do the same about birthday dinners. This particular year they made me breakfast(the eggs were runny, the toast burnt) but I ate it like a trooper..(They have since improved their cooking skills) Have a fabulous day!!!

Happy birthday sweetie!! Don't worry about entering me into the candy drawing-I just wanted to give you my happy birthday wishes and tell you that your card is adorable!! I hope you have a fantastic YOU day!!!

Would you quit making cards with this set already?! Every time you post another one, I want it more! And tell Dani to do the same thing. ;) hee hee.

Favorite birthday memory... hmmm... Probably having my grandparents take me to the Milwaukee Zoo every year for my birthday while I was growing up. Grandpa was pretty hands off when it came to kids, but he was the driving force behind that, and that's probably why it's so special to me. I still love to go there, and can't wait to go more regularly once the kids are a little older. :)

Oh, and the card is awesome!

AND, Happy Birthday!

Oh... and I want that chicken parmesan recipe! :)

...and I want to win.

Ok, I'm done now. lol!

Happy Birthday! Sounds like a great day is planned. Love your get well card.
My favorite birthday memory is hard to pin down (there have been many). I think one that stands out is probably when I turned 20 because I really felt so depressed about it. It really hit me hard that I wasn't a teenager any longer. Still the day itself was great but the idea that your teen years were behind you sort of made me a little sad.

A very Happy Birthday! My favorite memory of a birthday was the year I turned 40 - celebrated for a whole week. There a few other ladies in my office who were all celebrating a birthday that particular week! What fun that was!

Sad as this may sound - I don't really have any memories from birthdays past. It really isn't that bad, but just a holiday that isn't celebrated like I would like. I may get a card or ph call, but that's about it usually.

Happy Birthday though to you Lorie!! Sounds like you are definitely spoiled and should be!!

I hope you had a wonderful birthday and from just what you described how could it be anything else.
As hard as it is to believe my favorite birthday memory is still my sweet sixteen party. It was at my house with friends (only boy/girl party I remember having, lol)and nothing special just good memories of time with friends and family around.

Happy, Happy Birthday Friend!! Hope you were spoiled 'rotten'! :o)

My favorite birthday memory... My birthday is at the opening of hunting season, and we were always up camping. My Aunt and Uncle would bring up a Baskin Robbins Ice Cream cake for me. Somehow, ice cream cake always tastes better while camping!

My favorite birthday memory is when my girls (ages 3 and 4 1/2 at the time) made breakfast for me. They put butter and jelly on bread and THEN put it in the toaster. Waking up to the smell of something burning started my birthday off just right -- it's a good thing God made babies cute and huggable.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!! This is a great card by the way.
My fave birthday memory was last year. My sister got married on my b-day and we ALL (including me) forgot it was my birthday until about 2 that afternoon. I love to tease my parents now which child they love more!!!!!! And they "forgot" again this year since it was her anniversary....lol!!!

mmm... a birthday memory? I remember having a rollerskating party when I was 11 - I was so cool with my fuzzy covers :)

Hmmm..favorite bday memory, that's tough one. My bday is Halloween, so it was always so much fun growing up and still is today. I think last year was one of my favorites b/c I got to hold my twins, one on each knee, while everyone sang happy birthday. I just cried when it came time to blow out the candles and said, my wish already came true b/c they are sitting right here. They are the loves of my life.

Happy birthday Lorie! This card is so freakin' cute! I love the circles that separate the two patterns.

My favorite birthday memory was my 16th. I got my first car =)!! My parents, brother and boyfriend (husband now) restored a 1976 Camaro for me. It was absolutely gorgeous! I knew they were restoring it, but they told me all along it was for my mom, so it was a total surprise. Aside from that we had a big party with a huge bonfire (it was December)! I can guarantee, that's one I'll never forget!

Lorie, Sorry about the belated birthday wish, I didn't blog at all yesterday due to a Stamp Camp last night. But Happy day yesterday, today and always. Last year was my 50th B-day and my brother and his wife was here from MN and my other sister and her family (whom lives near) and my family all went camping. They had me a sweet surprise little party there at the camp grounds. I cried. Even tear up now with the memory!! Thanks for the chance to win B-day Blog candy!!

Lorie, I hope you had a wonderful birthday, and your hubby did all those super things for you!!

I have so many favorite birthday memories, but two really stick out in my mind -- one year, my sister was pregnant and I told her to have the baby on my birthday even though it was a month early. Well, she did ... and she named her Ann, my middle name! My niece and I share a special bond. One other special birthday was when my hubby and daughters surprised my with a party -- we had such fun with over 75 people there!

I love your blog - keep up enabling me to buy more and more stamps!! lol

Hugs, Shirley

Favorite birthday memory: 7.5 years ago my daughter was born the day before my b-day. Too bad I could not have held on for another 24 hours...it would have been so fitting since she is my "mini me" in every other way! LOL!

I live in the Midwest, but we were on vacation this year for my birthday. I got to eat my birthday cake sitting on the beach and even standing knee deep in the Gulf. First time in 37 years lol and definitely a great birthday memory.

Happy Birthday! This card is adorable. I lose the bright colors! What an awesome blog candy you'll be awarding. My family has never been big on birthday celebrations. I do remember having a party when I was about 10 and got to invite 3 or 4 friend for a slumber party. I got a doll that I really wanted. I can't remember what she was called but she came with a little record player and it played her band's music. I played that little plastic record over and over and over again!
