notebooks for hawaii

Good Saturday morning everyone! Isn't it wonderful to read it is a weekend? Ahhh....

When we decided that we were going to take a trip this fall I knew it would be necessary to have a notebook to be able to journal each day as I have a horrible memory. While we've had to change the vacation destination a couple of times I still think I will need a notebook to keep track of everything we are sure to do.

I actually made two notebooks. A 4"x4" notebook for my purse or whatever bag we are traveling with (below) and a 6"x6" notebook to journal in at the end of the day (to the right). I'm even thinking with the 6"x6" journal that I will use one page per day and go ahead and add a picture from each place when we get home.

To make these notebooks I used my Bind it All along with the front/back pieces that came with my "kit" when I first got my BIA. I covered the front/back with cardstock from the retired Summer Days Simply Scrappin' Kit (SU!). I also used the die cut pieces that comes with the kit to decorate the outside of the notebook. I have to say this was really easy to do (I made both in just a couple of hours). I'm really pleased with the out come, too. Most importantly...I know I'll be able to journal my memories while I'm gone in bright and fun Hawaii style!

So, today....today I'm going to do some serious looking at my wardrobe to see what things I should for sure take with me to Hawaii. I just got a great pair of capri's yesterday and a couple of new shirts (on 60% off the lowest marked price clearance) a couple of weeks ago so I really think I'm good but I just want to be sure. I've done pretty good with my weight loss but had a horrible Friday so I need to jump back on that wagon today too...lol! Easy Saturday this week I guess, huh?

Alright...I hope you have enjoyed a little taste of my Hawaii but make sure you come back tomorrow for something completely different!

Only 12 more days!! It's coming fast :) I love the journal. I usually write notes and then type them up after I get back from vacation...usually not able to read my own writing! I think it's a great idea to make a beautiful journal like yours..cause then I would not be so sloppy when I write! :)

These are so cute! I bet you'll get a lot of comments on them from other travellers. I wish I was going to Hawaii! It snowed her yesterday and looks like some of the same today. Skyler has the stomach flu and we were up all night cleaning up after him and doing loads of laundry. Luckily, Logan didn't wake up until 8 a.m. (very rare as he's a morning kinda kid) and Skyler and dear hubs are still sleeping. I've got a meeting ALL day and I think I'll bring my sunglasses so I can sleep with no one noticing. Although, they might question the use of sunglasses when there isn't even a hint of sun in the sky...

Have a great Saturday, Lorie...I'm done complaining now.

hugs, B.

your notebooks are great. i am leaving for Disneyworld in a8 days and thinking that I need to make a journal to take along. I made one for Disneyland 3 years ago and did not use it for that, but maybe I could be more disciplined this time. Your cards are beautiful as well.

Oh Lorie, you lucky girl. I've never been to the islands, but I hope you will take lots of pictures to share with us upon your return. These two notebooks will surely come in handy, and what lovely projects they are. You're sure to get some notice when you whip them out to make a note...and what a lovely remembrance they will be in the years to come of your awesome vacation. Thanks for sharing your creativity with us!

Lorie, these are really going to come in handy--and I LOVE how you decorated them. So, those die-cuts on the front actually came with your BIA, huh? Sooo cool. So, where did you purchase the BIA? I've been seeing them on blogs, but not sure who sells them.

OH, you're going to have such a great trip!! Happy planning!!

What? You're still trying to loose weight? I hope it's not from your face, your profile pic makes you look like a skinny-minnie!

Love these notebooks, btw. Great idea to journal your vacay. Too bad it's not here. sigh.

Oh well, you win some, you lose some. :)

Good luck with the weight loss!

I need a bind it all. Thanks. I think you're bad for my wallet. ;) I would *never* try to spend your money for you. ;) hee hee.

These are great, Lorie. But really... just take your laptop and you can email me every day with everything and then save the emails as your journal. HA HA! :)
